So many stories posit that being yourself, loud and proud, is the key to happiness-that anyone who doesn't get you doesn't deserve you. Its message is surprisingly rare in stories geared toward Cadet Kelly's demographic: Work hard to gain acceptance. It also tackles the role of creativity and individuality, art in society, and like, self-actualization. What can I say, honestly, seriously, but actually, literally, what can I say? Gary Cole is in this movie! Boasting career-high performances from almost all involved, this film is delightful, hysterical, and a low-key complicated and empowering story about the complex nature of female friendship.
